Tips to keep your machine Always Working On Linux!

I use linux exclusively for all my day to day computing needs, and it doesn't matter which linux, as distributions are merely window dressing, and linux is really only the core kernel after all.
However, since I started using debian I've discovered how easy linux really can be. And Ubuntu is even easier than debian!
The package management tools are the key to maintaining a healthy system. Tools like apt-get for debian based distributions like ubuntu, yum for fedora, urpmi for Mandriva, and SuSE has a fine ftp installer in its yast admin tool. Learning the correct way to utilise the power of these tools makes the task of keeping any installation totally up to date almost trivial.
